Diamond etching is an art form using one of several different methods to create artwork on black granite or marble. Using either a Dremel tool, a diamond etching pen, or a bundled group of diamond-tipped engravers, you make scratches and tiny divots in the polished stone surface, creating a kind of stippling effect. The end results can be as simple or as elaborate as you have the time to do. These are a few examples of my own forays into Diamond Etching. Several of these are from my time at a local marble and granite business, creating portraits of the recently deceased on marble headstones. The animals are some of the examples I did for a small business I’ve set up with my good friend Dean Paris. At Igneous Rex, Dean and I create portraits of family pets on marble.
